About the role
As the Driver Technician Team Leader for Medequip Assistive Technology Ltd you will ensure that the right product, in the right condition is delivered and installed to the service user in an appropriate and caring manner within the specified time frame to the agreed specification and to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- To Log monthly mileage on the relevant spreadsheets.
- To attend management meetings as and when required.
- Carrying out mandatory vehicle checks on a regular basis including cleanliness inside and out.
- To ensure techs are striving to complete all jobs in time in full as allocated.
- To work with customers services and ensure techs are taking out the set minimum amount of jobs as specified by key productivity indicators levels set by the company and depot senior management.
- To ensure new starters are fully trained within their probation period.
- Providing polite, empathetic and client and colleague focused service and ensuring all techs do the same and also taking into account that service users may be bereaved, angry or vulnerable and some houses may be in a poor state of repair or dirty
- Understanding and demonstrating the correct functionality and safe installation of items with a view to training all techs, identifying repair and replace and damaged or faulty stock.
- Being able to identify and report immediately any perceived safeguarding issues to your line manager/SHEQ.
- Report and log any near misses on the relevant forms and report such incidents to SHEQ.
- To ensure all relevant forms are completed for any vehicle accidents.
- To conduct investigations and disciplinaries if and when required.
- To support the Senior Management Team across the region.
- Meet or exceed set KPI’s daily and prioritise workload accordingly to achieve any target set.
- To be flexible and able to change hours as when required to ensure the jobs gets done and service levels are maintained to customers accordingly.
- Undertake risk assessments on activities relating to themselves, modifications, and fabrications prior to undertaking any work/duties, and should they believe that there be a risk of injury to any person then they should seek further instruction – at all times service users should not be put at risk.
- Train techs on use of a scanner to complete jobs, competent in adding notes/comments onto the scanner to keep prescribers and the depot fully informed of the day’s progress.
- Ensuring techs are adhering to timeslots/emergencies and liaising with service users if there is going to be a delay or if problems arise.
- Participating in the on-call escalation process on a rotational basis.
- Ensuring a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance and general cleanliness to comply with statutory and Company regulations, wearing company uniform as specified.
- Leading by example at all times and working with other team leaders and management colleagues with a view to ensuring solutions are presented

Qualifications and experience required.
- You must have a full UK driving licence (minimum of 3 years)
- Work well independently and as part of a team.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Be flexible with working days/hours to suit the needs of the business and participate in an emergency on-call rota.
