About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing clinical team and play a key role within our Community Equipment Services (CES) for the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) contract.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist to provide expert equipment advice and clinical support to prescribers, commissioners, operational teams, and the wider community. Using your specialist knowledge, you will help ensure best practice across the service while contributing to the development of innovative, high-quality, cost-effective equipment solutions.

As a Clinical Advisor / Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with senior management, referrers, commissioners, suppliers and operational teams to deliver a person-centred Community Equipment Service. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive specialist advice and support to referrers, managers and colleagues, including oversight and review of special equipment orders
  • Offering expert clinical reasoning on the supply, suitability and procurement of equipment
  • Supporting the recycling and re-use of specialist equipment wherever possible
  • Working collaboratively with health and social care professionals and CES commissioners to develop best practice and ensure strong clinical governance
  • Delivering training and demonstration sessions in line with contract requirements
  • Working jointly with CES managers to ensure catalogues and systems are accurate, maximising utilisation and value for money

The BNSSG contract operates from two depots: Emerson’s Green and Weston-super-Mare. Both depots have an Occupational Therapist on site, working collaboratively to meet service needs.

You will also be part of our national clinical team, benefitting from strong peer support, structured induction, supervision and ongoing CPD under the leadership of the Head of Clinical Services.

Qualifications and experience required.

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Significant post-qualification experience at a senior level
  • Strong experience within Community Equipment Services, particularly with specialist (“specials”) equipment
  • Solid IT skills, including Microsoft Office and multiple in-house systems
